You are right about this week's RFAR. Instead of cross-over, cross-out. And yet, on the other hand, interesting, as a sound of the times. Even entertaining/amusing! The record covers are, as always, telling. Time capsules.
Let me rephrase that: A cross-over AND a cross-out.
That Stanley Turrentine is a balloonatic, all right. Most of his work from that time is really tame. You can't blame him for trying to cash in, though. He paid his dues and created great music throughout the sixties.
From my friend Isabelle in the Netherlands: "Greg, the leadman Anton Goudsmit of New Cool Collective received thé jazz prize in The Netherlands, the VPRO/Boy Edgar Prijs 2010!"
