Love this week's show. Will try to find the time to elaborate. The Avengers tune gets to me for nostalgic reasons.

Started going to (genuine retro) supper club on Thur nights for an informal improv session (no cover) of jazz musicians. My friend Randy, who has been preparing this step for about a year and a half, joins them for two numbers. Also paid (!) to hear the Joshua White Quartet. Randy knows Joshua (piano) and the sax player Jason Robinson.

Sounds groovy. Nothing like hearing live jazz to appreciate the music. The old Avengers episodes are readily available now for rent and are good fun.

Cheers!

Ken

Yes, may rent! For here and now, happy to have the era evoked. Also, standing out for me are Coleman Hawkins, Ernie Andrews with the Wilbert Baranco Orchestra, Billy Ver Planck’s Orchestra and Blue Mitchell. Maybe more, if there is more listening before you pull the show.

Herbie Hancock was featured on the Lehrer News Hour today, Sept 16. He does not look 70, nor does he sound set-in-one's-ways 70.
