I have to put in writing how much I enjoyed Modern Vistas! "Enjoyed" doesn't capture it. Floored. Entranced. Etc.

That's cool to hear, for sure. I recommend picking up the entire 2 CD set (or 2 CD MP3 file) because it truly is masterful. I also think you'll enjoy the sound quality more. Much of Warmdaddy's solo is buried due to a tracking issue at the station. I enjoy the Ellingtonian piano and the onomatopoetic sounds. Another release that does this kind of thing well is Joe Lovano's Rush Hour.

Thx!

Has a FJD Listener of the Year Award been instituted yet? I would spend the prize money on music heard on your show.

Ah, if only I had my program marketing that buttoned up. That would certainly be good news for the artists I feature. Listener of the Year would no doubt go to Jo, a woman possessing great jazz intuition here in Richmond who listens to the show religiously. I'll be uploading the latest tomorrow or Wednesday.
