I enjoyed your Andrew Hill tribute, and thought you were right to draw attention to Blue Note's failure to market his 1960s recordings properly. You could have added that when it came to re-releases, Michael Cuscuna used his Mosaic label to put out a limited-edition boxed set and then took forever to release many of the individal albums on CD. In the case of 'Compulsion', a landmark recording from 1965, the CD was finally released by Blue Note in the UK just four days before Andrew Hill died.
Thanks for listening, tymeworpp. Yeah, it's crazy isn't it. I wonder what were the reasons behind Blue Note's reluctance all these years. Particularly from the label the released Dolphy's 'Out To Lunch' and Shorter's 'The All-Seeing Eye'. I would have liked to put in a few from Compusion as well. So much great music from Andrew Hill.
