Welcome to the home of Freedom Jazz Dance© and jazz raconteur DJ Ken Hohman. The Freedom Jazz Dance radio show airs on Sundays from 5-7 pm on WDCE 90.1 FM in Richmond, Virginia with live stream at www.wdce.org.

Freedom Jazz Dance features chance-taking artists, unsung performers and overlooked recordings throughout the history of jazz. Rare 78s and LPs share the spotlight with the very latest in improvisational jazz. Exclusive segments include Records From Aunt Ruth© where listeners are invited to call in with their trash-or-treasure vote and Two-Of-A-Kind® where I compare two different versions of a singular jazz composition. Studio line is 804.289.UR90.

Playlists, artist links and archived shows will all soon appear on this site in hopes of encouraging a free exchange of ideas, recommendations, raves, disses, reviews and all things JAZZ.
Got a jazz event to announce? A new recording? What was the name of that song? Contact me at freedomjazz-at-verizon-dot-net.

Giz!

Thanks for the Buck Hill link. I missed seeing him by just a week in D.C. We should probably do a Buck Hill field trip the next time he plays at Twins. His new release "Relax" is on Severn Records. He's lost some of his chops (as would be expected) compared to all his Steeplechase records, but it's a fine release.
Kind of a bummer that he's available to play at weddings(!). Wednesday might be good after all. We are due. Check out the link on my site here for Daily Jazz. The guy's got one helluva collection.

Thanks, Greg.
Yes, blogging. The new frontier. I'll be making the site richer as it progresses.
You're right on target.

Yes. Transformed into sort of a jaunty tune with R&B style horns. Good to know it's getting play in the 'burg.
